If you are a fashion or product designer, a jeweller or an artist, a purveyor of vintage, a supplier of ethical fashion, or, you simply love fashion made with love and you are in Dublin, you have to visit The Loft Market. There you can find amazing and exclusive clothes, jewellery and lifestyle products, most of them made in Dublin and, in some cases, with sustainable or recycled materials. Nominated for ‘Best Boutique’ in ‘The Irish Times Best Shops in Ireland 2014’, this lovely shop is based on the top floor of Powers Court Market, a stunning Georgian building transformed into a lovely shopping centre with more than 40 shops.
The designs of Sogni, a sustainable brand created by Angela Coraccio, is a perfect example of the kind of labels available at the Loft. Sogni offers us clothes designed and produced in Dublin with the help of community-based organisation ReDiscover Fashion, which provides on-the-job training, employment opportunities and education to promote sustainable living. Moreover, Angela uses organic and recycled textiles.
Another good example of a sustainable and ethical brand in The Loft Market is WAYO, who create handcrafted designs made in Dublin from vintage Japanese kimonos. A wonderful way to upcycle these clothes and transform them into amazing new products like bags, ties and fashion garments!
Of course, if you go to The Loft you can find a corner with We Are Islanders creations, which, as you know, are produced in Ireland from organic tissue such as fair trade cotton, Irish wools and organic salmon leather. All the prints are hand-drawn illustrations and are screen printed in Dublin using non-toxic dyes.
So, if you are in Dublin, you can’t miss the opportunity to visit this lovely boutique and explore the best selection of Irish made products and ethical fashion labels!
